Burnbrae Farms
In 1891, Joseph Hudson, a Scottish immigrant, purchased a 100-acre farm in the village of Lyn near Brockville, Ontario. He named it Burnbrae, with “burn” meaning stream and “brae” referring to hillside in Scottish. Over 130 years later, Burnbrae Farms remains a proud Hudson family enterprise, with a far-reaching impact across Canada.
Originally a dairy farm, Burnbrae Farms transitioned to egg production in the 1940s under the leadership of Grant and Joe Hudson. This shift marked the beginning of a new era for the farm, setting it on a path to become a key player in Canadian agribusiness. Through innovation, such as introducing cracked eggs and maintaining rigorous grading standards, Burnbrae Farms expanded its operations and established itself as a trusted name in the industry.
Today, Burnbrae Farms eggs and egg products are a staple in grocery stores, restaurants, and homes across Canada. Despite its growth from a small village farm to a national presence, the commitment of Burnbrae Farms’ employees and the Hudson family remains steadfast. They continue to provide delicious and nutritious food to communities, reflecting a rich legacy of quality and dedication.
